Teaching Method

I believe that by practicing correct technique, listening critically for accurate rhythm and intonation, and understanding music notation and theory, any student can begin to perform and interpret music in a meaningful way. From the start, I guide students to do each of these individually until it becomes automatic. My goal is for all students to eventually be able to independently practice and perform music purposefully and confidently.

 

I love classical music and believe that many classical pieces are a great learning tool for students. However, I am also passionate about arranging contemporary songs and soundtracks for fun, for practice, and for performances. I encourage students to compose and arrange their own music and have helped past students arrange their favorite songs to play during recitals.
